How to Whiten Dark Underarms

Are you imagining things — or are your armpits growing darker? As it turns out, armpits can darken due to perspiration in the underarm area that is seldom fully eliminated. The sweat never truly dries out in the folds of armpit skin and secretes uric acid, which will darken skin. Age, hormonal changes, pregnancy, excessive shaving, poor quality deodorants, and genetics can also be culprits for dark underarms.

If you feel self-conscious about your dark underarms, you might find yourself avoiding wearing tank tops, spaghetti strap dresses, sleeveless shirts, bathing suits, or even certain blouses that show your armpits. But you can whiten dark underarms in various ways. Here are some tips and tricks to show you how to make your dark underarms white.

Change your hair-removal method. Stop using hair dissolving/removal agents and depilatory creams and you may notice your dark armpits getting lighter. These products contain strong acids and other substances to remove hair but can also darken the skin beneath.

Shave less. Shaving may also cause your armpits to darken, so shaving less frequently may help lighten them. Since shaving removes the top layer of skin along with the hair, the newly exposed layer can darken instantly when exposed to sweat.
