How to Use Raw Potato on the Face for Lighter Skin

Skin brightening is a viable option for those who want fairer, more even skin. Although chemical treatments are available, less-harsh home remedies exist that are safe and effective to try. Potatoes are one remedy that, while delicious to eat, can also be used for lightening and evening skin tone. To further help the process of getting fairer skin, exfoliate daily with a gentle scrub. Exfoliation helps remove dead skin buildup that can cause patches and uneven tones.

Step 1
Rinse a potato under cool water to soften and remove dirt. Peel the potato on all sides, holding it over a trash can or sink and pressing the peeler lightly against the potato’s skin and sliding it away from your body.
Step 2
Pick out any potato eyes with the peeler's pointed end. Rinse the potato once more with cool water.

How to Get a Close Shave Without Irritation

You like being smooth and stubble-free, but redness and razor burn can be a high price to pay for “bare-able” skin. Luckily, there are easy ways to treat that irritation — and to avoid it altogether by thinking ahead and employing some smart strategies. Here, experts share their insider tips to help you avoid redness and irritation every time.

Assess the condition of your skin.  Avoid shaving areas afflicted by red, irritated bumps from a previous session. “You’ll cut the tops off the bumps and irritate them even more,” says Jessica Wu, MD, assistant clinical professor of dermatology at the University of Southern California Medical School. Leaving them alone will help you avoid a cycle of pain, especially for tender areas such as the underarms.
Give it time.  Give your skin and hair some time to soften in the shower with the help of heat and moisture. Ample lather from shaving cream will also help hydrate your skin and lubricate the area, which minimizes trauma from the razor, says Mona Gohara, MD, an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Yale University.

Make as few passes as possible.  You might often have been advised to shave in the direction of hair growth, but this doesn’t actually help you get a close shave. You can go against the direction of growth, but try to make as few passes with your razor as possible.

The Beauty Benefits of Pineapple

With its distinctive prickly skin, sprouty green leaves and sweet yellow flesh, the pineapple is a symbol of hospitality as well as a tasty treat. Like many fruits and vegetables, it can be just as nourishing on the body as in the body. Eating mineral-rich pineapple pulp, drinking the juice, and applying both to the body have multiple beauty benefits.

Clearer Complexion

The high vitamin C and bromelain content of pineapple juice make it an effective acne treatment. Bromelain is an enzyme that softens skin and has been used for hundreds of years in South and Central America to fight inflammation and swelling. Drinking pineapple juice helps the body synthesize collagen, which helps skin stay firm and flexible, while vitamin C and amino acids aid in cell and tissue repair. For a double dose of skin nourishment, cut a pineapple in half and refrigerate one half. Scoop the fruit out of the other half, juice it, drink the juice and gently rub the inside of the pineapple skin on your face, avoiding the eye area. After a few minutes, rinse your face thoroughly with tepid water. Repeat two or three days later with the other pineapple half.

Enjoy Soy for Beautiful Skin And Better Health

When you make that café pit-stop for your next blissful soy latte or chow down on a side of edamame with your sushi, consider the benefits of soy for your skin as well.
According to studies soy is an excellent source of protein and anti-oxidants which reduce the signs of aging in your sin.
Soy is a natural anti-inflammatory due to the hefty content of a plant compound present in soybean known as isoflavones.
Isoflavones have a two-prong benefit as both a collagen stimulant and an enzyme inhibitor.
If you choose non-organic skincare products, those pesky pesticides can find their way into your skin care products and onto that beautiful canvas that is your skin. You also want to avoid genetically modified soy products in both skin care and food products if you want the best soy for your health.
Applied topically to the skin, soy increases the elasticity and thickness of your skin, as it stimulates collagen and helps slow the early onset of wrinkles. Soy prevents the sagging of your skin by inhibiting enzymes that wear down the proteins necessary to maintain healthy skin structure. Revival Soy, a manufacturer of soy products, conducted a study with 40 post-menopausal women between ages 50-65. After taking 20g of soy over a 3 month period, the study found that 93 % of the women taking soy saw skin flaking and discoloration decrease. After 6 months wrinkles began to fade.

9 Awesome Facts About Lemons You Should Know

When we were kids, our introduction to lemons wasn't so friendly. (It went something like this.) But now that we're all grown up, we actually like the tangy flavor it adds to our recipes for chicken, cookies and, most importantly, cocktails.

But now our relationship with lemons has moved from the kitchen to the bathroom, as we incorporate the citrus fruit into our beauty regimen. Lemons are a great source of calcium, vitamin C, magnesium and potassium -- minerals and antioxidants that improve the appearance and condition of our hair, skin and nails. So we present nine awesome uses for lemons you should know. Tip: Keep in mind that lemon juice should not be left on the body for extended periods of time and may have severe reactions when exposed to the sun. Always consult with your doctor if you have any concerns.

1. They heal acne and remove blackheads. Lemons' antibacterial and antifungal properties make them a natural alternative to treat acne. Simply slice open a lemon and rub it across your face. Or you can add a few drops of honey to a lemon half before applying it directly to the area where you have blackheads. Wait five to 10 minutes before rinsing off with cold water.

2. They lighten dark spots and blemishes. Acne scars and marks are embarrassing and a pain to get rid of. Lemon juice's citric acid gradually fades spots and evens your skin tone. Be cautious of open wounds or cuts on the face, as it can sting real bad.

3. They whiten teeth. Professional teeth whitening treatments can cost a fortune. Save yourself a lot of money and time with a homemade teeth whitener using baking soda and lemon juice. Mix the two ingredients into a bubbly solution and put onto your teeth with a Q-tip. Leave on for no more than one minute (the acid is strong enough to break down tooth enamel) and gently scrub off with a toothbrush.

How to Use Vitamin E Oil for Acne Scars?

Medical reports reveal that vitamin E helps heal scarring from burns and other wounds. That's why many people have started using it for acne scars. In fact, several doctors recommend using vitamin E after skin surgery or resurfacing. To use vitamin E for acne scars, there are a few things you need to pay attention to, including the amount you use and the frequency and duration of the application.

Instructions:
1.
Break open vitamin E capsules. One form of vitamin E is the pill form. You can either digest the pills or break them open to get the vitamin E oil out.

2.
Test vitamin E on the inside of your forearm. According to the People's Pharmacy, vitamin E can cause dermatitis in some people. Therefore, it's a good idea to test it on a part of your skin that's mostly hidden, such as the forearm, to see if you have any negative reactions to it.

Honey and Skin: Recipes and Tips

What exactly is honey? Honey is a 100% natural product made by bees. After the bees gather the nectar from the flowers and put it in the honeycomb, over time it breaks down into simple sugars and evaporates, leaving that golden, sticky goodness we know as honey. (So cool, right?) There are not additives, colorings or flavorings in honey.

Why Honey is Good for Your Skin? When you think of honey, the moisturizing benefits might naturally come to mind, but did you know that honey also has antibacterial and antioxidant properties to it, too?

Antibacterial Properties: This will aid in diminishing acne. Used as a bi-weekly face mask, you will see the acne on your skin start to go away. With regular use, it will slow down new acne from forming.
Antioxidant Properties: Honey is a great all-natural antioxidant that, with regular use, will help fend off free radicals that are responsible for signs of aging on your skin.
Moisturizing Properties: This is a no-brainer, but honey has wonderful moisturizing benefits to it, which is why it is perfect additive in your bath tub or foot soak.
What Skin Types is Honey Best For? Honey can be used by all skin types equally. If you struggle with acne, honey's antibacterial properties will help the acne go away without drying out your skin like typical acne products. And typically if a product is good for acne, it certainly isn't good for dry skin, but the antioxidant and moisturizing properties makes it ideal for dry skin (and normal!) as well.

Honey for Face: The easiest way to use honey on your face is to simply apply honey to your skin as a face mask. It can be a bit tricky to get the sticky honey on the first time, but once you try, you'll find what works. Let it sit for 5 minutes or more and rinse off with warm water.

Honey for Body: You have probably heard that Cleopatra bathed in milk and honey. If it's good enough for her, what's stopping you? Honey is a natural humectant and naturally moisturizes your skin. Combine that with the lactic acid in milk that naturally exfoliates - or gets rid of the dead skin cells - the skin on your body will be left smooth and hydrated without you even lifting a finger.

Rosewater is known for its skin beauty properties. For centuries, it is used as a skin toner. Rosewater is also used for eyes as it helps to soothe eyes. Rosewater has healing properties.

Rosewater is also safe to use on skin conditions such as dermatitis and eczema. Due to its healing and soothing properties, rose water is used to sooth insect bites and sunburn. After a tiring day, simply spray rose water on your face for cooling skin and relaxing.
Overall, rosewater is an excellent natural product safe for all skin types.

Glycerin is used in almost every other beauty/skin care products. It is a viscous and oil like liquid though it’s not oily. It absorbs very well into the skin. The best thing about glycerin is that it moisturizes skin without making your skin oily.  Glycerin keeps you skin hydrated and moisturized by attracting moisture  and water towards skin. Here's another justification to hit the beach: Some of nature's most powerful anti-aging compounds can be found beneath the waves. Find out which marine plants and minerals can keep your skin calm, clear, and smooth.
The best anti-aging ingredients don't have to come from labs and test tubes. Some of the most powerful weapons against lines, wrinkles, inflammation, and sagging skin come from the sea.

Substances from the ocean have proved tough in surviving the harsh marine environment. "Sea life grows in salt water, withstands the sun and other extreme weather conditions, and yet still maintains hydration," says New York City plastic surgeon Stafford R. Broumand.

We asked the experts which marine ingredients are the best for your skin. Find out why the solutions to your skin problems might lie beneath the sea.
Seaweed
"Seaweed contains vitamins C and E, which help protect the skin from UV damage, boost skin's natural collagen production, and moisturize the skin," says Elizabeth Tanzi, MD, codirector of the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Surgery, in Washington D.C.

If that doesn't sell you on this plant's powers, you should also know that it contains nutrients that can help calm redness and inflammation — great news for those who suffer from acne and rosacea.

How to Lighten Your Skin - Naturally

Natural Ways of Lightening Your Skin at Home

Darker skin due to acne scars can make anyone feel self-conscious about the way they look and how feel they feel about themselves. My son has had quite bad acne and I guess I did too when I was a teenager, so I know that he feels bad about how it looks. We didn't know that you can help it look and feel better just by doing a few simple things like natural skin bleaching. Learn with me how to get a lighter skin and lessen the effect of acne scars at home naturally, and quickly feel better about how your skin looks and feels.

If your acne scars bug you like they did my son, begin with things you can do at home without resorting to stronger measures first.Your skin does rejuvenate to a larger extent but it is easy enough to damage it, so following the rule of least invasive treatments to start with is always best.

Anyway, here are a few things to get started with, and also an explanation of what happens and why, when acne scarring leaves darker pigmentation on your face.

Ways to Lighten Your Skin Using Natural Foods Found in Your Fridge

Lemon Juice:

Lemon works as a natural bleach and it can fade away dark spots on the skin. Simply mix equal parts of lemon juice and water and dab it on the hyper-pigmented (darker) spots. Leave it on the skin for about 10 minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water. For best results do this 2-3 times a day.

Mint:

The mint leave made into a paste is another simple method you can use to make your skin lighter. Blend enough mint leaves to make a fresh paste and apply on the face. Leave the mint paste on the skin for about 20 minutes.

(You could take advantage of this time to sit quietly in a warm spot; taking the opportunity to relax and perhaps catch up on some reading or just close your eyes.)

At the end of the 20 minutes, gently wash the paste off the skin with warm water. Not only does this paste lighten the skin but it will give it a lovely texture as well
