Anti-tanning treatments for summer

In summer, many people complain about tanning but it's not difficult to get back your original skin colour.

1. Homemade packs and scrubs can be used as an effective anti-tan measure. Combinations include packs made of lime juice with honey: lime juice with turmeric and milk: lime juice with cucumber juice and rose water. Scrubs can be made with oatmeal, yogurt, gram flour, tomato juice and lime juice as the key ingredients. Lime juice and tomato juice act as natural depigmenting agents whereas yogurt, honey and the others are hydrating agents.
2. In case the tan is severe treatments at a clinic can be carried out. These include microdermabrasion, superficial chemical peels and various lasers which can exfoliate the superficial layer of skin and bring out a brighter newer surface from within.

3. Various creams and serums can be also used in combination with the above to get rid of the tan. Kojic acid, licorice, glycolic acid with a generous amount of hyaluronic will lighten the skin as well hydrate it in case of any damage after the sun exposure. 4. Antioxidants either consumed in diet or in form of medication as well as applied topically can help to reduce the pigmentation and brighten the skin internally.

ASPIRIN FACIAL MASK: AGE AND ACNE AWAY!

Aspirin is much more than just a pain killer. When they say that this little white pill is all around, apparently they really do mean all around.

Instead of using water to help the medicine go down, why not a take only couple drops (as well as some other stuff) and make yourself an aspirin facial mask that will help take the age and acne away? Surprisingly, it is one of the best facial masks that you can make right at home.



WHAT TO DO:
First of all, you want to mix the water, jojoba oil and the honey all together in a microwaveable bowl. Pop it in for a good 5-10 seconds. It really depends on how hot and how fast your microwave gets hot. Anyway, you want it to be nice warm, and smooth.

While that’s in the microwave, you can take the 4 Aspirin pill and crush them till you have powder. The back of a spoon should suffice. But if you really want it fine, use a fork.

Take your powdered aspiring and add it to the mix.

Keep stirring until you have a paste like substance.

Apply evenly on your face (must be clean and dry!) and let it sit for a good 10-15 minutes.

Rinse off with cold water (this helps close the pores and tighten the skin) and pat dry (Always PAT DRY!).

TIP: For spot treatments or an entire aspirin facial mask, follow up with some moisturizer. Wanna go homemade all the way? This is an easy one. Just pick a leaf off your Aloe Vera plant and smear the gel all over your face. You can leave it on the whole night if you like so that your skin can really absorb all the good stuff this succulent plant has to offer.

5 Skin Care Products to Avoid

With so many skin care options on the market it’s easy to invest in products proven to combat acne, oily-skin, fine lines, wrinkles, dry skin, eczema, and many other problematic skin issues.


However, some of the ingredients found in our skin care products are actually toxic chemicals that may be hazardous to our health and the environment.

Even worse, many of the products that we use only include a small amount of these toxic chemicals, when you factor in daily use, multiple product usage it’s no surprise that our skin may become adversely affected overtime.

5. Artificial Fragrances
Many women prefer scented products, however, studies suggest that one artificial fragrance can contain hundreds of synthetic chemicals primarily made from petroleum and coal. Also, companies are not required to tell you what these chemicals are.
Fragrances are considered to be one of the top 5 known allergens and are known to cause asthma and even trigger asthma attacks. Fragrances are also a main concern for hormone and reproductive dysfunction, cancer, headaches, dizziness, skin disorders, asthma and other allergies.

4. Parabens

Although, they’re ubiquitous in skincare, preserve other ingredients, and extend the shelf life of many products, these antimicrobial chemicals are known to have hormone-disrupting effects and have been found in biopsies from breast tumors.

Statement from the Food and Drug Administration: “FDA believes that at the present time there is no reason for consumers to be concerned about the use of cosmetics containing parabens. However, the agency will continue to evaluate new data in this area.”

3. 1,4-Dioxane

This chemical is common in skin and personal care products, it’s also an intentionally used ingredient in dry cleaning products, automobile coolants, and lacquers.

Common ethoxylated compounds include sodium laureth sulfate and polyethylene glycol (often listed as PEG). To avoid it, skip any product with the following ingredients: myreth, oleth, laureth, ceteareth (or any other -eth), PEG, polyethylene, polyethylene glycol, polyoxyethylene, or oxynol.

2. Chemical Sunscreens

Two of the most popular chemical sunscreens found in skin care products include, oxybenzone and octylmethoxycinnamate.

These chemicals have been shown to disrupt endocrine activity. Studies show that titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are safer sunscreen alternatives. In the Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) guide to safe sunscreens, they found “more than 75% of the sunscreens contained toxic chemicals that can increase your risk of cancer and other health issues.”

Start at your scalp and work all the way down to your feet. Use a blow dryer to move hair away from your scalp, and a handheld mirror for hard-to-see spots in places like your back. "New moles develop until about age 30, but it's critical you spot anything that forms after that."

"Sometimes a mole looks like it's changing, but people second-guess themselves and don't have it checked," says Dr. Heimer, who recommends taking digital photos and saving them on your computer. To make sure you have a good shot, don't use a flash (it'll distort the image), and focus as close to the mole as possible. "If the light level is too low, use a flashlight or some other external light source," says Dr. Nasir. Then label the photos with the date and location on the body. "Check your moles against the photos every month or two, and if they're changing, see your doctor," says Dr. Nasir.
